Materials
Materials
- Pinnies or foam balls
- Divide the class into 2 equal groups. Have the groups line up on an end line at either end of the playing area.
- Align each student a vowel and identify two taggers (they can hold a foam ball or wear pinnies.) Have the taggers stand in the centre of the playing area.
- Call out a word. If a student' vowel is contained in that word, they try to move across the gym using a specific locomotor movement without being tagged. If the vowel runner is tagged, they become a tagger and the previous tagger becomes a vowel. If vowel runners cross the line on the other side without being tagged, they continue to be vowel runners.
- Change the game by using content, such as parts of a sentence, story or paragraph.
