- No materials needed.
- Talk to the students about the difference between words such as 'frightened' and 'frightening,' 'scared' and 'scary,' 'squeezed' and 'squeezing,' 'collapsed' and 'collapsing.'
- Present one word at a time and challenge the students to demonstrate the appropriate action or posture. Follow that with a different suffix. Are they students able to demonstrate the difference in meaning?
Adaptations and Extensions
- Make up a brief story that includes one word with different suffixes, and direct the students to act it out.
- Have them make up their own stories and have a partner act them out.
