Beanbag Spell- Adapted from Ever Active Schools. (2014). Daily Physical Activity Greatest Hits.
Materials
- 60+ lettered beanbags
- Scatter the lettered beanbags throughout the playing area
- Group students into groups of 2-3 and line them up at the end of the playing space
- Call out a word (from any unit of study)
- The first student in each group runs/side steps, hops, jumps, gallops etc. to retrieve one letter. When they return, the next student retrieves one letter.
- Continue until the word can be spelled out with the lettered beanbags.
- Provide students with a visual copy of the word if needed
- Alphabet Dash: Groups work together to collect all of the letters of the alphabet and place them in order (Make sure there are enough beanbags for all of the groups to make a full alphabet set.)
