- Paper and pencil/pen for every student
- Divide students into pairs and give them each a sheet with the letters or the alphabet or ask them to write down the letters down the side of the page. (You may want to exclude the letters Q, X, and Z.)
- Have the pairs work together to find objects during their walk/run that begin with each letter of the alphabet, or each partner may complete half the alphabet.
- Have the students check and record their heart rates and record them on sheets of paper every 2-3 minutes while participating. Speed should be adapted to ensure appropriate working heart rates are maintained.
- Have students compare answers.
